Expanding Living Space With a Rockwood Sunroom

Expanding Living Space With a Rockwood Sunroom

From hot tubbing to Barbequing, this retreat keeps you warm and dry.

Nestled in Rockwood, this sunroom project showcases the perfect blend of functionality and style. Designed to provide year-round enjoyment, the 45 ft x 12 ft space features a hot tub inside and a BBQ area just outside. This thoughtful design ensures an inviting atmosphere for relaxation and entertaining, no matter the weather.

Key Features:

  1. Gorilla Deck Boards: The foundation uses Gorilla deck boards over 2 x 8 joists, effectively preventing bugs and wind from coming up through the floor. This sturdy base ensures a clean and comfortable environment.
  2. Weatherwall Windows and Vents: Initially designed with floor-to-ceiling screens, the space has been upgraded with Weatherwall window/vent systems. These modern additions provide excellent weather protection while allowing flexibility in ventilation.
  3. Acrylic Roof: The acrylic roof not only enhances durability but also allows natural light to flood the room. Remarkably, even on days when the temperature outside dips to -8°C, the sunroom can reach a cozy 50°C when the sun shines.
  4. Seamless Design: The frame’s clay color was carefully selected to match all components, including supplies from Weatherwall Canada, PCA doors, and Natural Light Patio Covers. This cohesive design ensures an aesthetically pleasing finish.
  5. Outdoor BBQ Convenience: With the BBQ placed just outside, homeowners can cook without worrying about smoke buildup, even in inclement weather.

Our Solution:
We built this sunroom from the ground up, focusing on durability and functionality. By converting the space from screens to Weatherwall windows and vents, we provided the homeowners with the ability to leave cushions and furniture in place, regardless of the weather. The design’s longevity is also a standout feature, with a 35-year life cycle for the acrylic roof and 12-15 years for the Weatherwall windows. Both elements can be easily updated or replaced when needed.

This sunroom has significantly expanded the homeowners' living space, especially during the summer months when entertaining guests. The combination of the hot tub, protective flooring, and versatile windows creates a comfortable retreat that can be enjoyed year-round. With the BBQ area just steps away, outdoor cooking remains convenient and enjoyable without exposure to rain or snow.

“This room has truly transformed the way we live and entertain. Whether it’s a sunny winter day or a bustling summer evening with guests, our sunroom offers a cozy and versatile space. The durability and functionality are unmatched, and we love how everything matches seamlessly. Thank you for building our dream sunroom!”

The Rockwood sunroom is a testament to how thoughtful design and quality materials can elevate outdoor living spaces. By addressing the homeowners’ needs for weather protection, durability, and cohesive aesthetics, we created a space that is as practical as it is beautiful. This sunroom is a shining example of how a well-executed project can bring comfort and joy to everyday living.
