Terms and Conditions for Payment and Project Scheduling

At Burl-Oak Screens, we aim to ensure transparency and professionalism throughout every step of your project. Below is an overview of our payment structure and scheduling process:

  1. Initial Planning and Deposit
  2. Once we complete the email and planning process, we will schedule a meeting to finalize the project details. At this stage, we require a non-refundable initial deposit, typically ranging between $3,000 and $4,000. This deposit covers the cost of the Building Code Identification Number (BCIN) and initial planning work.
  3. Payment Structure for Larger Projects
  4. Second Deposit (30%): After the permit process is approved, a second deposit is required. This allows us to purchase raw materials for the deck and cover initial labor costs.
  5. Third Payment (40%): Following the deck installation, this payment is allocated to ordering and installing the roof.
  6. Final Balance (30%): The remaining balance is due upon the installation of windows and completion of finishing touches.
  7. If the project does not require a deck or permit, a simplified payment structure of 50% upfront and 50% upon project completion will apply.
  8. Payment for Smaller Projects
For smaller jobs, full payment is expected upon completion.
  9. Accepted Payment Methods
  10. We accept all major credit cards, personal cheques, and e-transfers. Please note that we discourage cash payments as they are difficult to manage within our business framework. No additional fees are applied for credit card payments.
  11. Returns and Restocking Fees
  12. Restocking Fee: For returns handled through our dealers, a 25% restocking fee will apply. All materials must be returned clean, free of scratches, and in resalable condition.
  13. Custom Products: Most of our products are custom-made to fit each project. Once materials are cut and fastened, they cannot be returned. In rare cases where a customer is unhappy with the project, a settlement may be negotiated, typically up to 30% of the total project cost.

Customer satisfaction is our priority. Final payment is not required until the customer is fully satisfied with the project. In 19 years of business, we have had to negotiate a settlement only once. Regular communication throughout the building process ensures clarity and eliminates misunderstandings.

These terms ensure that your project progresses smoothly while maintaining accountability at every stage. If you have any questions or require further clarification, our team is always here to assist.

Warranty

At Burl-Oak Screens, we work with trusted suppliers who manufacture high-quality components for our projects. Each of these manufacturers offers their own product warranties, ranging from 1 year to 15 years, depending on the product. We pass these warranties directly on to you, ensuring that your investment is protected.

In addition to manufacturer warranties, Burl-Oak Screens provides a two-year warranty on all labor performed during the installation process. To take full advantage of these warranties, we recommend retaining your invoice, as manufacturers typically require proof of installation by a certified professional dealer.

We are committed to excellence and reliability. Our careful selection of suppliers ensures that the products we use meet the highest standards. If a product consistently fails to meet our expectations, we quickly transition to a more reliable supplier to maintain the quality you deserve. While callbacks are rare due to our attention to detail, we are always prepared to address any issues promptly to ensure your satisfaction.

For questions or concerns regarding warranties, our team is always available to assist you.
